First I would like to thank all of the players, fans, coaches and administrators for a fine season in 2005-2006. I know that we have experienced a lot of growth through the wins and losses and our young team will be well prepared for the 2006-2007 season that's on the horizon. In the second semester our improvement playing as a team was very noticeable. This improvement comes with the experience of playing together with basically the same line up for the months of late November, December and early January. The players became comfortable with line mates and found success through learning. We spent a lot of practice time working on planned reactions to situations and over time our players began to create more offensive opportunities and protected our defensive end first and foremost. Our goaltending improved as the first semester came to a close and continued to be one of our bright spots as we worked our way through the second semester. Overall, the team finished on a high note by sweeping the University of Kansas at home and capping off a three game unbeaten streak. Our team's plan is to build off of the second semester success and roll into the summer conditioning time with our focus on preparing individually knowing that improving on our individual skills will make for a strong team in the fall semester of 2006. With the experience gained, renewed commitments and the increased recruiting efforts the 06-07 Billiken season should prove interesting for all. |
